 Kia Ora Everyone!

This week we have been focusing on Geometry and Measurement Transformations.
We have learnt different types such as:
- Reflection
- Rotation
- Translation
- Enlargement

My hub had to make a Koiwai  pattern using two of the Transformations from above. My pattern (from above) used Enlargement and reflection. I was very Interested in this weeks project and hope that we can use Maori in more of our learning.

What would your pattern look like?

A poem made to Inspire...

 Hello Everyone!
Today I will be sharing my poem about Ngai Tahu and our home, Otautahi.
A true place to call home
By:Olivia Walker

Wakas were sailed throughout the night,
Being guided by the stars, so bright.
They told stories about Te Waipounamu being their waka,
Bringing the sky to his lover.

Moas fled, kahu flew away,
Knowing they were going to become prey.
Otautahi was silent, nothing to be heard,
Except the Ngai Tahu watching the birds.

The Swamp covered throughout the land,
Where the Maori were proud, and had a stand.
Watching over their territory feeling amazed,
Seeing what they  had remarkably  raised.

Otautahi has changed over the years,
Bringing new places, even new careers.
New traditions, more places to explore,
So please listen for a little bit more.
Ngai Tahu were strong, like hundreds of brick walls,
Not giving up even if they fall.
Inspired by our ancestors we have a chance,

To listen to them, and follow their paths.

How different is the Christchurch Cathedral and the Sydney Opera house?

 G'day everybody!

Hello Everybody!
This Week we got given two goals to choose from, Make connections through texts by using more sophisticated texts or choose the goal think while reading, pick up new information, and come up with new ideas and new thinking.

I selected the first goal doing the task of a Venn diagram to see the similarities and differences to the Sydney Opera house and the Christchurch Cathedral.

Since the text is very small in the picture above here is what my project says:

Sydney Opera house
  • Located in Australia

  • Used for singing purposes

  • Has 1,056,006 tiles on roof

  • It’s a place where people perform

  • One of the most photographed places in the world

  • The roof resembles boat sails.

  • It’s 185m long

The Christchurch Cathedral

  • Located in  Christchurch, New Zealand

  • Got destroyed by the 2011 earthquakes

  • Still trying to re-build

  • Used for Catholics

  • Might be built again in 2025

  • Built in between 1864 and 1904

  • It’s a Church

Similarities

  • Both have their location in there names.

  • They both have some historical information.

  • Both landmarks

I used Google drawings to display my learning, and have learnt: That both landmarks have many differences, there is not much in common, and facts about both places!
