We can BE multiple things!

 Kia Ora!

Last week and this week for Reading, we are focusing on what it's like to be in a community.  Even though I was sick on the first Workshop day, I looked at the benefits of being in a community  and the downfalls. For example:A benefit would be they have a a purpose or a goal to aim, and a disadvantage could be if people start to change their minds on the purpose of the group and start conflicts with the group.

On the First workshop we had to read all the texts and watch an inspiring video to get us ready for the create in a couple days. They were all about different ways of bonding or how they followed their goal with grit. For the create it was inspired by a beatitudes poem we read for R.E last week, we had to write a poem but every line had to start with the word "Be".

Like Be inspiring, Be helpful, etc. After writing my poem I decided to turn it into a poster and with the help of canva I made a rainbow inspired one.  I really enjoyed writing this and am proud of my finished product. The only things I really struggled with was trying to find better describing words and what theme my poster was going to be. Here is the link to my original one and below is a picture of my poster.

If you were in a community, what will your communities purpose be?

Recall conversions between decimals, fractions & percentages

 Morena!

For Week 9 maths, we were focusing on Recall conversions between decimals, fractions & percentages.  Basically, It's translating them to each other!

So 0.6=6/10 or 3/5=60%. For our Create task this week we had several choices to choose from like make a kahoot, create a maths game on scratch, a video explaining what the goal was or create a poster of how to do it! I chose the last option and defined it well I guess?

I struggled and found it easy at the same time.  I understand how to do it but it was pretty hard to define what to do. Either way, here is the Link for the original one and a picture is below. After reading this, is there anything I could of done better?

Toothpick sculpting=Geometry

 Hello everyone!

Maths this week was very creative! Art x maths how fun does that sound? Anyways this week we have been focusing on geometry and 3d shapes! Out of only toothpicks and blue tack we had to sculpt our way to create two 3d shapes. Even though It took a while to gather both of those items, I created two shapes and are going to say how many Vertices, faces and edges they have! (Sorry the pictures are blurry)

Square based pyramid

Faces:5

Edges:8

Vertices:5

Polyhedron

Faces:8

Edges:18

Vertices:12

If you had to build a 3d shape, which one would it be?

The Mystery activity..

 Bonjour everyone!

As I said in my last post, this week for Reading and Writing we are focusing on Instructions. Personally, I loved reading this week! Our goal was to learn when it was good to skim and scan and when it is good to read it  We got given four instructions to choose from BUT, we didn't know what the outcome would be..

I chose to do the one with a grassy background (Link Here). Here is the list of  the Mysterious Instructions..

Begin by finding a space with soft ground or outside on the grass

Bend down into a squat position

Put your feet a little wider than shoulder-width apart.

Put your hands between your legs, touching the ground.

Jump upward, and softly land back to the position you began in.

Try this again, but this time see how many you can do it in a row without stopping.

Try this another time but while jumping up, click your heels together.

This was so  fun and entertaining! In the end the instructions led me to do some frog kind of jumps.  I got tired really easily but these are fun and good for fitness on wet days. My high score was 19! Do you want to give it a try? What will your  score be?

The easiest treat recipe!

 Morena!

This week for Reading and Writing we are focusing on Instructions.  We were focusing on how to write good, understanding Instructions just by using under 100 words. I chose a recipe me and my brother had already did earlier this week. Corn flake  treats! (Even though me and my brother used rice krispies).  I enjoyed writing instructions for this recipe since its so easy! I think the only thing I really struggled with was taking photos with my Chromebook and having to write under 100 words, (I just fit with 99).  Here is a photo of my finished and here is the link to my original piece. :)

I really recommend this treat if you have a special occasion coming  or just need to make a  sweet treat. It's super easy and super quick as well! Would you like to try this recipe?

An investigation related to maths?

 Kia Ora!

Maths this week was focused on Statistical Investigation, ans mine was focused on the population in some places around New Zealand. A Statistical Investigation is something that shows data and reveals  its answer.  Using the data/information that we have gathered we had to make a graph that shows what we have found clearly. We also had to do two variables that also suited the information we have found. I have found four interesting facts when I finished. I figured out that:

  •   Auckland has more then triple the amount that Christchurch has
  • Christchurch has 343,993 more people then Nelson
  • Nelson has the least amount of people out of all the places
  • The most common amount of people in a large city is 400,000+

I think I struggled most with collecting  my data, but other then that I really enjoyed my finished project!
If there anything Incorrect or I need to work on please leave it in the comments.

Imagination is key!

 Hello!

Writing this week was focused on poetry and we could write about anything we could like! After a while of thinking coming up with many ideas I chose to write about an Imaginary city that I had in a dream! The type of poem I decided to do was a rhyming poem, and I love the ending that I came up with. I struggled with some words that rhyme with each other so I used the website rhyme zone to help me! Here is the link for my writing:Here

After reading it, is there anything I could Improve on?

Will it be a fantastic future?

 Morena!

For this week we were focusing on how important hobbies were to making us happy, we had multiple choices for what our finished project was gonna be:

  • A top 10 poster about "Hobbies for Happiness"

  • A how to guide for your favourite hobby (this could be a video)

  • Invent a new hobby - could it incorporate both the physical and creative side

  • Write an article of fun hobbies to try during lockdown - think about what we can do during lockdown and what we can't (get creative with what people have at their house)

  • A poster/video for the most popular hobby in 20 years from now...

I chose the last one and created a landscape poster using canva! Even though it only said one hobby I couldn't choose between two so I just wrote for both of them! The two ones I thought of was hover ball (a sport where you ride hover boards and can move with the ball but only for 5 seconds) and time travelling (this could be helpful to solve problems later in the future or in the past or present for us).

I chose this one because I enjoy using my imagination to create a creative outcome! I personally think that the only thing I troubled with was describing my hover ball idea. Here is my DLO:

I would love to get some feedback so if you have some leave it in the comments!
